Chili Con Carne
1 or 2 cans kidney beans, partially drained
1 large onion, sliced
1 green pepper, chopped
1 lb. ground beef
3 Tbsp. fat
1 large can tomatoes, with juice
1-1/2 tsp. salt
paprika
dash cayenne pepper
6 whole cloves
1 bay leaf
1 to 2 Tbsp. chili powder (to own personal taste)
Brown onion, green pepper and meat in hot fat
Add tomatoes and seasonings
Simmer 2 hours, adding water if necessary
Add beans; heat thoroughly
Remove bay leaf before serving
