Thumbprint Cookies

Ingredients
1 cup butter or margarine
1/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon almond extract
2 cups all purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup finely chopped nuts (if desired)
1/2 cup Smuckers® preserves or jams, any flavor
Instructions
1. Combine butter and sugar; beat until light and fluffy. Blend in almond extract. Add flour and salt; mix well.

2. Shape level tablespoonfuls of dough into balls; roll in nuts. Place on ungreased cookie sheets; flatten slightly.

3. Indent centers; fill with preserves for jam. Bake at 400 degrees for 10-12 minutes or just until lightly browned.
