I put instant coffee in a microwave and almost went back in time.

Dales Morning Coffee

Get out of bed and stumble into kitchen.
Cuss at dog because he won’t leave you
alone until he goes outside. Let him
outside so he quits bugging you.

Return to kitchen and grab last night’s
coffee cup off table. Pour old coffee
from yesterday into cup. Wipe spill with
paper towel.

Walk across room, remove wife’s cup from
yesterday and place your cup in microwave.
Push 1-0-0-start. Go back to entryway and
reset circuit breaker. Let dog back in house.
Return to kitchen and push 1-0-0-start again.

Reach into cupboard for coffee and a filter.
Take across the room to where the coffee pot
resides. Take filter basket from coffee maker
and return to entryway to dump it in the trash.
Walk back across the room to coffee machine and
place filter into the basket. Add a heaping
scoop of coffee grounds to basket. Place in
coffee maker.

Walk back across room with carafe and get water
from sink. Return to the coffee maker and pour
water in. Grabbing coffee, walk back across the
room and place canister back in cupboard.

Reach into microwave and grab heated coffee
from yesterday. Walk back across the room and
sit down at table. Turn on the TV and switch
to CNN for the morning news. Taste coffee.

Walk back across room and dump cold coffee in
the sink. Return to table, reach behind you and
pour a fresh cup. Wipe up spill with paper towel.
