ITALIAN STYLE WHITE BREAD

2 pkg. yeast
2 1/2 c. lukewarm water
2 tbsp. honey
1 tbsp. salt
2 tbsp. melted shortening or oil
7 c. un-sifted flour

 

Add honey to warm water and mix. Sprinkle yeast over top of water and let it stand unstirred for 5 minutes. Mix until yeast is dissolved. Add salt, shortening and 3 cups flour. Mix thoroughly and beat briskly. Mix in 3 cups more flour. Sprinkle 1 cup flour on board. Turn dough out and knead until smooth, about 5 minutes. Place in greased pan and let raise. Make into loaves. Let raise. Bake at 350 degrees about 40 minutes.
