Hot Mulled Cider
8 c. apple cider
1/2 c. brown sugar, packed
Dash of nutmeg
2 cinnamon sticks
1 tsp. whole allspice
1 tsp. whole cloves
8 thinly cut orange wedges
8 whole cloves
small square of cheesecloth
Directions:
Combine apple cider, brown sugar and nutmeg in a large saucepan over medium high heat.
Using the cheesecloth square, make a spice bag with cinnamon, allspice and the 1 tsp. of
cloves
place in saucepan and bring cider mixture to a boil.
Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 10 minutes.
Remove spice bag and discard.
Serve hot cider in coffee mugs with a clove-studded orange in each one.
