Two young lovers so much in love
Was Barbara Catchpole and Kenneth Stride
The admiration they had for each other
Would simply, not be denied
The day was Saturday, July twenty sixth
The year, nineteen fifty eight
St Marys church was the setting
Where they became soul mates
![]()
Many people scoffed at them
And said that they would never last
But they knew their love was strong enough
And their faith in God was unsurpassed
Ten years turned into twenty-five
Again marriage vows were renewed
Your love bonded with trust and honesty
Never to become unglued
![]()
Now Barbara and Ken were getting older
Their love for each other never waned
They took what God had given them
And never once complained
The year now two thousand and three
Nuptial vows renewed, the twenty fourth of May
With Ken stricken with terminal illness
They lived for love everyday
![]()
Their love is like a love story
Or a melody of undying love
For Barbara and Ken were truly blessed
By the hand of God above
They say that nothing lasts forever
And things will be what they may be
But a love like Ken and Barbara has
Will last throughout eternity
