The Loneliest Feeling
An old man and an old lady
At the opposite ends of town
Sat quietly in their rocking chairs
Only their rockers made a sound
No one ever came to visit them
Not even their children or close friend
So sad to be so lonely
Is this how their lives would end?
She thought about the good things
When she was young and growing up
He thought about the first dog he had
It was a German Sheppard pup
They thought about their first true love
And how much in love were they
Marriage vows made in front of God
And in Gods word they would obey
They both had raised their families
Until they were old enough to depart
A few years later fate had intervened
Solemnly stopping their partners hearts
Their happiness was stripped by death
Now forced to live their lives alone
Not knowing what to expect from life
And fearful, of the unknown
All the old lady really wanted
Was two arms to hold her tight
Someone to be there for her
And share her love both day and night
The old man needed a woman
To share his unconditional love
To be the man, of her sweetest of dreams
A man, which shed be so proud of
It was almost if God was watching them
As they suffered through their pain that night
He could not stand it any longer
His Angel of Death had now taken flight
As they sat there in their rocking chairs
A guiding light was being shown
Yes God was now there with them
So they would not have to die alone.
