If today the children sang, their voices to rejoice in
glee
and give us faith in hope and love, and jaded harmony
Yet there are those who can not sing, their hearts so ever true
but the pain they live through day by day, the hurt is nothing new
Their scars are never healing, and their wounds may never show
they cover up to hide the pain, so no one else will know
Yet most of the wounds are deep, masked from the world to see
the tears are sometimes locked away, as they throw away the key
When can we stop, the youth that's taken away
why can't we all just love the child, why can't we start today
With innocence taken, sometimes we pass the buck
but the one to lose is the child, and in the cracks get stuck
The children are our future, our hopes, and destiny
our passport to tomorrow, our path to what's to be
Give the children back their youth, give then back their love
remember they are a blessing, sent from up God above
