| I am requesting for the sake of future potential victims of domestic and other related violence that you support the efforts of Beverly Senay and Senator Gallus in helping to pass the Diane Lemire Victims Rights Bill. It would appear that sometimes when an individual has not experienced the level or any level of violence they may not be able to identify with the terror short and long termed that is the reality of the victim or victims involved. Personal prejudices should not be a part of the equation, yet time and again it creeps into most situations because some human being who appears to be less sympathetic or too judgemental of the victim may not set in motion the laws that are there for everyone. If the victim is a prostitute, or a drug addict, or any other identification should that negate the fact that they are being brutalized by their husband, boyfriend or any other male? Where in victim rights advocacy does it list the qualifications for an abused woman (female, girl) that they have to a perfectly acceptable member of our allegedly free society in order to qualify and receive the help they are seeking?? Does this mean that any man ( male, boy) has the right to murder, take a human life?? Diane Lemire was stabbed to death over 100 times. He, the perpetrator stabbed her repeatedly frontally, then turned her body over and continued in his frenzied murderous act to kill her to death. She died protecting her sister and her sister's two children. It is my understanding the coroner stopped counting Diane Lemire's stab wounds at 32, but attested to the fact that it was more like 100 times. So, what qualifications are called for before some who are supposed to represent victims regardless of their position in our society have before some within our system will grant them the protection and assistance they are entitled to and looking for? Life has a way of kicking one in the lower extremity, sometimes by those they trust the most or love the most. Be it a friend, parent, spouse, co-worker or sibling. It is only then that the survivor's of these horrors will experience the lifetime of nightmares that will follow, Coupled with the callous indifference of some within our sytems of assistance during these horrific times making these circumstances even more difficult to cope with. So, please help make new law. One never knows when the same kind of tragedy could be visited on someone you love, or you yourself. We are ALL God's children. Respectfully, aka Ginger |
