I myself spent the first 14 years of my life as an abused and battered child.  Here I am... 48 years old and still trying to deal with a lot of my life. Some people don't realize that even years later, certain kinds of abuse are never gotten over. For me the abuser (my Dad) is gone now, the abuse enabler (My Mom) is gone also. I can't help feeling, that if those who knew, those who enabled, had come forth in the beginning, things could have been different.

Back in the 60's and early 70's nobody wanted to recognize the word ABUSE. Nobody felt it was their RIGHT  to interfere. The signs were all there. Many saw them. They ALL ignored them. That time of ignorance is OVER. Also, Being abused as a child is NOT a REASON to abuse someone else as an Adult!! It is an EXCUSE!!
