Diane why did you leave me?

This was written in loving memory of my sister
Diane M Lemire

I know you said that the hurting would stop.
That you would take the beatings away.
I didn't know that you, would have to go to heaven.
To save me from death that day.
Diane why did you have to leave?
Was this the only way?
Will I ever see you again?
I wish it didn't end this way.
Please give me a sign.

"What's a Girl Like Me to Do?" I wrote this poem to help me heal and
to help others, and in memory of my sister Diane M. Lemire, who died March 15, 1983.
Please don't wait until it's too late.
If you're being abused you need to get out fast.

What's a Girl Like Me to Do?

To my sister Diane M Lemire

I've been beaten,
I've been bruised,
I've been raped,
I've been abused.
What's a girl like me to do?
So ashamed, I hide the bruises.
No where to run,
No where to hide,
What's a girl like me to do?
