It was gettin near Christmas
and I was shopping around
To see what old Santa would be bringing to town
I thought of my kids and how
happy they'd be
When they saw all the toys Santa left 'neath their tree
When suddenly I spied in the
big department store
A small little girl of 5 maybe 4
She pointed to a doll on a
shelf where it lay
and in a small tight little voice I heard her say
How much is that dolly? How
much I say.
My Mommy's not working and my Daddy is dead.
And Santa's not comin. My Mommy said so.
She told me that Santa got lost in the snow.
But I've got 2 pennies, just look Mr. see?
Now how much is that dolly? How much will it be?
I have just a bit. But, won't that buy the doll?
Cuz if it won't, then gee.. I'll have no Christmas at all.
The clerk told her gently, 2
pennies is the price
And if you'll wait a moment Honey, I'll wrap it real nice
As he gave it to her you
should have seen the look on her face
Why, it was just like a miracle had suddenly took place
As he watched her happily
leave, I heard him say and I had to agree
It's more blessed to give than it is to recieved
