A soldiers cry
heard in his mothers tears
a gentle sigh
thinking about the past years
She held his little hand
when he was afraid
all grown up now
no longer those days
Now she holds his heart
forever with joy
he is a man
no longer a boy
Her cries are many
as the time draws near
for him to go fight
for the country we have here
A tear slowly falls
as he embraces his mother
it is plain to see
he loves her like no other
I love you mom
please don't cry
I will be home
it's just a matter of time
"Son I don't want you to go
another night, another day"
"I need to do this, Mom" he says,
As he slips away
And across the land
the water and sky
you can hear in each of their tears
a soldiers cry
